Purdue Libraries and School of Information Studies News

New Version of ChemBioDraw available

September 11th, 2009

The latest version of ChemBioDraw, v12, is now available for download.  All Purdue-affiliated students, staff and box_chembiodraw_80faculty can download their own copy of ChemBioDraw for installation via  a site license funded by the Purdue Libraries.  This structure drawing suite allows the user to draw accurate, chemically-aware structures for use in database queries, preparation of publication-quality graphics, and entry for modeling and other programs that require an electronic description of molecules and reactions.

It also provides a drawing tool for biological pathways. It includes common pathway elements (membranes, DNA, enzymes, receptors, etc.) as well as the ability to import other elements.

Instructions on how to download and install the latest version are can be found on this page.

Please note, users that have upgraded to Windows 64-bit system or the latest Mac OS, Snow Leopard, have reported issues with ChemBioDraw not working properly.  ChemBioDraw was not tested for these systems and it not fully supported by CambridgeSoft at this time.

You can also view a one-hour webinar highlighting the latest features of ChemBioDraw v12.
