{"id":120,"date":"2010-06-24T14:30:01","date_gmt":"2010-06-24T18:30:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.lib.purdue.edu\/grants\/?p=120"},"modified":"2010-06-24T14:30:01","modified_gmt":"2010-06-24T18:30:01","slug":"elsevier-innovative-libraries-in-developing-countries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.lib.purdue.edu\/grants\/2010\/06\/24\/elsevier-innovative-libraries-in-developing-countries\/","title":{"rendered":"Elsevier: Innovative Libraries in Developing Countries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Deadline: September 15, 2010<\/p>\n<p>Funding: $5000-$15,000\/year for 1-3 year projects<\/p>\n<p>CFP: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elsevierfoundation.org\/ILDC%20guidelines.html\">http:\/\/www.elsevierfoundation.org\/ILDC%20guidelines.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Elsevier Foundation supports the efforts of libraries to enhance the quality of life in developing countries by advancing knowledge in science, technology and medicine.\u00a0 The Foundation provides one, two and three year grants to libraries in the developing countries and supporting organizations in the following areas:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 Programs to enhance library infrastructure, technology or information services in ways that significantly enhance their ability to make STM (scientific\/social sciences, technical and medical) information available to those who need it &#8212; researchers, clinicians, students, policymakers and the wider public.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 Programs that enhance or expand library information resources in the developing world through digitization or preservation of information that advances science, health, the environment, and indigenous knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 Training and education programs, for library staff, students or researchers, contributing to sustainable improvements in the library\u2019s capacity to provide STM information in the developing world.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 Partnerships between libraries in the developing countries and institutions in the developed countries to provide technical assistance or training.\u00a0 Developed country partner organizations include libraries, learned societies, universities, intergovernmental organizations and other non-profit organizations.<\/p>\n<p>Proposals are welcome for single-year  \tgrants in amounts between US$5,000 to US$50,000\u00a0 and will be accepted for  \tmulti-year programs (up to three years) for grant amounts of US$5,000 to  \tUS$50,000 per year.\u00a0The Elsevier Foundation will also reserve a percentage  \tof the 2010 grant funding for projects under $15,000. Proposals should be  \tfocused and well-defined, and must address <em>each<\/em> of the following  \telements in the online application on \t<a href=\"http:\/\/www.elsevierfoundation.org\/\"> www.elsevierfoundation.org<\/a> .
