The proxy bookmarklet lets you reload a web page through the Purdue Library’s proxy server. If the page you are visiting is one that the library has a subscription for, and you’re presently off-campus, then you should get you immediate access to the resource once you’ve logged in with your Purdue Career Account and password and have been verified to have a valid library account. more

So, what is a QR Code?
A QR (Quick Response) Code is a two dimensional bar code which when scanned using your camera phone enables you to access some pre-written content or complete a task. For instance, read some text, access a web site, send an sms or an email. An example is below. If you scan the code it will open this website (http://blogs.lib.purdue.edu/labs/2009/08/13/qr-codes-at-purdue-librariesqr-codes-at-purdue-libraries/) on your phone.

So their use is more effective and efficient by simply scanning the code on your phone than entering the information using your fingers.
What do you need to start using them?
* To read a QR Code you will need a camera phone (web cam), and QR Code reader software. Given some of the tasks require you to access the web or communicate then you will also need good data transfer, web browser software and good connectivity.
This site provides links to downloads for your phone based upon your phone model: http://www.tigtags.com/getqr

Welcome to the lab area of the Purdue University Libraries IT department. In these pages you will find a collection of new technologies, scripts, and applications that are designed to help you find the information you need easier and faster. We are actively working on these tools but we would love for people to try them out and provide feedback of what they think of them.
