{"id":11437,"date":"2022-04-05T11:15:14","date_gmt":"2022-04-05T15:15:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.lib.purdue.edu\/news\/?p=11437"},"modified":"2022-04-13T09:29:08","modified_gmt":"2022-04-13T13:29:08","slug":"announcing-expanded-open-access-publishing-opportunities-with-plos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.lib.purdue.edu\/news\/2022\/04\/05\/announcing-expanded-open-access-publishing-opportunities-with-plos\/","title":{"rendered":"Announcing Expanded Open Access Publishing Opportunities with PLOS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Taking effect on April 1, 2022, Purdue University Libraries and School of Information Studies has entered into an Unlimited Publishing Agreement with the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.plos.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Public Library of Science (PLOS)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. This agreement expands our current PLOS open access publishing partnership to provide unlimited publishing in all PLOS journals without incurring fees.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This new agreement happened as a result of collective bargaining through a partnership of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crl.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Center for Research Libraries<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/nerl.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">NorthEast Research Libraries<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. A<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">uthors at Purdue University-West Lafayette, Purdue Fort Wayne, and Purdue Northeast are included in the agreement, which offers unlimited, no-fee publishing for Purdue corresponding authors in 12 PLOS journals: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PLOS Biology<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PLOS Climate<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PLOS Computational Biology<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PLOS Digital Health<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PLOS Genetics<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PLOS Global Public Health<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PLOS Medicine<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PLOS ONE<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PLOS Pathogens<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PLOS Sustainability and Transformation<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PLOS Water<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This is a great opportunity for Purdue authors to increase discovery and accessibility of their scholarship, and another strong step in Libraries\u2019 goal<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to create more equitable, sustainable publishing options for Purdue authors, and in turn, to foster more equitable access to their research. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Information about the new PLOS agreement has been added Libraries&#8217; Open Access Publishing Partnerships <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/guides.lib.purdue.edu\/c.php?g=1115699&amp;p=8135264\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">libguide<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Purdue authors wishing to express interest or ask questions, please reach out to Nina Collins, Libraries&#8217; scholarly publishing specialist, at <\/span><a href=\"mailto:nkcollins@purdue.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">nkcollin@purdue.edu<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Taking effect on April 1, 2022, Purdue University Libraries and School of Information Studies has entered into an Unlimited Publishing Agreement with the Public Library of Science (PLOS).
