{"id":1197,"date":"2010-10-15T10:46:43","date_gmt":"2010-10-15T14:46:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.lib.purdue.edu\/news\/?p=1197"},"modified":"2010-10-15T10:46:43","modified_gmt":"2010-10-15T14:46:43","slug":"mels-database-of-the-week-for-101510","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.lib.purdue.edu\/news\/2010\/10\/15\/mels-database-of-the-week-for-101510\/","title":{"rendered":"MEL&#8217;s Database of the Week for 10\/15\/10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to Database of the Week &#8212; a feature from the Management &amp; Economics Library (MEL).\u00a0 These weekly database snapshots will give you basic information about our most relevant and beneficial online resources.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This Week\u2019s Featured Database: <\/strong> <em>Purdue e-Pubs,<\/em> from Purdue University Libraries, in recognition of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lib.purdue.edu\/info\/oaweek.html\">Open Access Week<\/a> October 18-25.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Link:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/docs.lib.purdue.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/docs.lib.purdue.edu\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Description\/focus:<\/strong> <em>Purdue<\/em> <em>e-Pubs<\/em> is the Purdue Libraries\u2013sponsored open access database of articles and other scholarly documents produced by members of the Purdue University community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Start with this hint:<\/strong> <em>Purdue e-Pubs<\/em> is similar to other article databases with options for a simple keyword search or advanced search.\u00a0 What makes it different, though, is the link on the left labeled <strong>Submit Research<\/strong>.\u00a0 If you have published an article and have retained your <a href=\"http:\/\/scholarly.lib.purdue.edu\/author.html\" target=\"_blank\">author rights<\/a>, you can add it to the Purdue Libraries digital collection and make your paper freely available online. Click on <strong>Submit Research<\/strong>, select your department from the resulting list, and create your account.\u00a0 Don\u2019t see your department?\u00a0 Contact <a href=\"mailto:newton@purdue.edu\">Professor Mark Newton<\/a>, Purdue\u2019s Digital Collections Librarian, who will help your department or research center establish an e-Pubs collection. Mark is also available to answer any questions you may have about <em>Purdue e-Pubs<\/em>, support for open access scholarship at Purdue, or tools for retaining publication copyright.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why you should know this database:<\/strong> All publishing Purdue researchers have the opportunity to contribute research articles to the digital collections of the Purdue University Libraries through <em>Purdue e-Pubs<\/em>.\u00a0 When you contribute, you can receive a monthly e-mail telling you how many times your articles have been downloaded. <em>Purdue e-Pubs<\/em> is also the publication platform for several peer-reviewed, electronic journals published through the <a href=\"http:\/\/docs.lib.purdue.edu\/thepress\/\">Purdue University Press<\/a>. A recent notable addition to <em>Purdue e-Pubs<\/em> through the Press is <a href=\"http:\/\/docs.lib.purdue.edu\/gbl\/\"><em>Global Business Languages<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>How this database can be integrated into the curriculum: <\/strong>The work of Purdue University undergraduate and graduate students may also be deposited if the appropriate collection has been established.
