Welcome to Database of the Week — a feature from the Management & Economics Library (MEL).\u00a0 These weekly database snapshots will give you basic information about our most relevant and beneficial online resources.<\/p>\n
Database name: <\/strong> ABI\/INFORM Global<\/em>, from Proquest.<\/p>\n Link:<\/strong> www.lib.purdue.edu\/mel<\/a>, in the pull down Quick Access to Business Databases<\/em> alpha list right below the Libraries\u2019 search box.<\/p>\n Description\/focus:<\/strong> ABI\/INFORM Global<\/em> is one of the most comprehensive business databases, covering over 3000 publications.\u00a0It includes scholarly journals, trade journals, and non-periodical content such as EIU ViewsWire, Business Dissertations, Author Profiles, and Business Cases.<\/p>\n Start with this hint:<\/strong> The ABI\/INFORM Global<\/em> Basic Search<\/strong> treats your search term as a keyword.\u00a0 You can switch to Advanced Search<\/strong> and narrow you results by limiting to title or subject.\u00a0 You may also want to see the search executed in another database.\u00a0 Click on Databases selected<\/strong> under the orange and green tabs across the top, select one or more databases, click Continue<\/strong>, click Search<\/strong>.\u00a0 This is especially useful if you have a complex search statement.\u00a0 If full text is not an option, the icon Find It @ Purdue Libraries<\/strong> that appears in the citations will lead you to the full text in another database.<\/p>\n Other common tools available in this database<\/strong>: save selected hits online for later retrieval; some fulltext; FIND IT at Purdue Libraries; <\/strong>citation help; suggestions for specific topics; filters for type of source (scholarly journals, dissertations, etc.) and type of document (article, book review, etc.); email selected hits to yourself; alerts or RSS feed; limit by date; option to sort by date or relevance.\u00a0 For use of these tools in this database, contact Mary Dugan<\/a>.<\/p>\n Why you should know this database:<\/strong> Almost all of our Subject Guides include ABI\/INFORM Global<\/em> as a recommended database for articles.\u00a0 Once you are satisfied with your search statement, one click turns it into an RSS feed.<\/p>\n How this database can be integrated into the curriculum:<\/strong> ABI\/INFORM Global<\/em> gives researchers at all levels access to business and financial information, with the capability to narrow the search to scholarly journals, trade publications, or dissertations.<\/p>\n Cost:<\/strong> For information about the Libraries\u2019 subscription, contact Mary Dugan<\/a>.<\/p>\n ——————————<\/p>\n Database of the Week comes to you from the Management & Economics Library (MEL).
