This year\u2019s event featured over 70 authors across various academic disciplines.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Five authors spoke about their books and writing processes at the event, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Robert Browning, <\/strong>political science professor, author of \u201cPartisan Rhetoric and Polarization: The Year in C-SPAN Archives Research, Volume 10\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Alfred L\u00f3pez, <\/strong>professor and English department head,<strong> <\/strong>author of \u201cA Posthumous History of Jose Marti: The Apostle and His Afterlife\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Matt Hannah,<\/strong> associate professor in Libraries and School of Information Studies, author of \u201cConspiracy Theories and Extremism in New Times\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Catherine McBride, <\/strong>associate dean for research for the College of Health and Human Sciences, distinguished professor of human development and family science,<strong> <\/strong>author of \u201cRoutledge International Handbook of Visual-motor Skills, Handwriting, and Spelling: Theory, Research, and Practice\u201d and \u201cHandbook of Literacy in Africa\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Trish Morita-Mullaney,<\/strong> associate professor in English language learning, author of \u201cLau v. Nichols and Chinese American Language Rights: The Sunrise and Sunset of Bilingual Education\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Clarence Maybee, associate dean for learning and W. Wayne Booker Chair in Information Literacy for Libraries and School of Information Studies, made formal remarks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During her speech, McBride noted, \u201cI want to highlight the fact that creating a book is a very big undertaking. If you write a book, the planning is enormous, even after you get comfortable with your ideas and the publisher has weighed in. There are typically external reviews of the proposal and some further suggestions as to how to address various topics within it\u2026I commend all the authors here, and I\u2019m also grateful to Purdue again, as other people have said, for initiating the creation of books as a top priority.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attendees enjoyed hors d\u2019oeuvres and drinks, and authors received a pin-on corsage upon check-in.
