These database snapshots will give you basic information about our most relevant and beneficial online resources.<\/p>\n<p>If you have a suggestion for a topic or a database that should be promoted, please let us know.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This Week\u2019s Featured Database: <\/strong><em>OECD iLibrary, <\/em>from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Link:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lib.purdue.edu\/mel\" target=\"_blank\">www.lib.purdue.edu\/mel<\/a>, in the pull down<em> Quick Access to Business Databases<\/em> alpha list right below the Libraries\u2019 search box.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Description\/focus:<\/strong> <em>OECD iLibrary <\/em>offers statistics and full text books and reports from the OECD, whose focus is the world economy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Start with this hint: <\/strong>The <em>OECD iLibrary<\/em> replaces <em>SourceOECD<\/em>.\u00a0 It has the same resources but has an updated interface with more speed and more tools.\u00a0 The opening page has a menu bar to browse books, papers, or statistics, and a link to the <em>OECD Factbook<\/em>. The basic search finds your term in several fields, and then you can limit the results to books, papers or statistics.\u00a0 On the other hand, the default for the <strong>Advanced Search<\/strong> is to look for your term or terms in all fields, so limit to <strong>Title<\/strong> <strong>and<\/strong> <strong>Abstract<\/strong> to get a manageable number of hits.\u00a0 If your subject is a phrase, be sure to use quotation marks: <em>water policies<\/em> will not give the same results as <em>\u201cwater policies.\u201d<\/em> The statistical databases in <em>OECD iLibrary<\/em> cover national accounts, economic indicators, trade, employment, migration, education, energy, and health.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other common tools available in this database<\/strong>: results presented in downloadable PDF or Excel; citation help; session search history; limit to type of document (book, working paper, statistics); RSS feed; limit by date; option to sort by date or relevance.\u00a0 For use of these tools in this database, contact <a href=\"mailto:mdugan@purdue.edu\">Mary Dugan<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why you should know this database:<\/strong> The reports and statistics in <em>OECD iLibrary<\/em> cover key areas of the financial sector, the real economy, social policy, environment, development and innovation in both member and non-member countries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How this database can be integrated into the curriculum:<\/strong> Students searching for an international research topic can browse the <em>OECD iLibrary<\/em> <strong>Theme<\/strong> or <strong>Country<\/strong> menus for issues in Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia-Pacific.\u00a0 The organization covers economic and social trends, from the labor force in persistently poor areas to the innovation and growth of the Internet economy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost:<\/strong> Paid by the Libraries annually.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>Database of the Week comes to you from the Management &amp; Economics Library (MEL).
