Welcome to Database of the Week — a feature from the Management & Economics Library (MEL).\u00a0 These weekly database snapshots will give you basic information about our most relevant and beneficial online resources.<\/p>\n

Database name:<\/strong> Global Market Information Database<\/em> (aka GMID<\/em>), from Euromonitor International.<\/p>\n Link:<\/strong> www.lib.purdue.edu\/mel<\/a>, in the pull down Quick Access to Business Databases<\/em> alpha list right below the Libraries\u2019 search box.<\/p>\n Description\/focus:<\/strong> GMID<\/em> gives you access to high-quality, detailed international market intelligence reports.<\/p>\n Start with this hint:<\/strong> Using the GMID<\/em> simple search field in the top right corner can generate an effective search. For\u00a0 example, try smartphones<\/em>.\u00a0 The top half of the results lists GMID<\/em> reports but don\u2019t overlook the articles shown on the bottom half.\u00a0 For a more precise result, in the left side of the menu bar, click on Search<\/strong> and select Menu<\/strong> Search<\/strong>.\u00a0 Select a broad category such as Consumer<\/em> Health<\/em> or drill down to Antihistamines<\/em>, click Next<\/strong>, then select a geographic area.\u00a0 To see an example of a company report, enter General Mills on the Companies<\/strong> page. Note the icons indicating statistics or reports.<\/p>\n Why you should know this database:<\/strong> GMID<\/em> is one of our most powerful databases, providing domestic and international statistics on consumer goods and services, details on companies, and comprehensive economic information on countries.<\/p>\n How this database can be integrated into the curriculum:<\/strong> Students can easily navigate the GMID<\/em> interface to use country consumer data to compare markets.\u00a0 The reports include financial assessment and SWOT.<\/p>\n Cost:<\/strong> Paid by Krannert School of Management and the Libraries.<\/p>\n ——————————<\/p>\n Database of the Week comes to you from the Management & Economics Library (MEL).
