This Week\u2019s Featured Database: <\/strong>Mintel, <\/em>from\u00a0Mintel Group.<\/p>\n Link:<\/strong> www.lib.purdue.edu\/mel<\/a>, in the pull down Quick Access to Business Databases<\/em> alpha list right below the Libraries\u2019 search box.<\/p>\n Description\/focus:<\/strong> Mintel <\/em>provides market research reports on consumer products and services.<\/p>\n Start with this hint: <\/strong> Mintel<\/em> requires registration on first use.\u00a0 The\u00a0Mintel<\/em> home page has a simple search box and a static menu bar.\u00a0 Click on Report Categories <\/strong>to see the types of products covered in the database, then try one of the categories, such as retail<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0The resulting page displays leads for the latest reports in the category, a\u00a0list of all reports that fall into the category, news, companies, and even advertising news.\u00a0\u00a0Select one of the reports to see the format of the homepage for the research reports:\u00a0links in the index on the\u00a0left take you to tables of statistics, market size and forecast, and other relevant information\u00a0 Back on the menu bar, the Companies <\/strong>link includes a list of trade associations as well as basic information about specific companies.<\/p>\n Why you should know this database:<\/strong> Mintel<\/em> is international in scope and includes reports on\u00a0worldwide regions as well as specific\u00a0countries.<\/p>\n Other common tools available in this database<\/strong>:\u00a0fulltext reports; citation help; save reports for later retrieval.\u00a0 For use of these tools in this database, contact Mary Dugan<\/a><\/p>\n How this database can be integrated into the curriculum: <\/strong>Mintel <\/em>reports provide links to reports on related topics that\u00a0could be relevant to a student’s research project.\u00a0 Sources of statistics are easily identified.<\/p>\n Cost:<\/strong> Paid by the Libraries annually.<\/p>\n ——————————<\/p>\n Database of the Week comes to you from the Management & Economics Library (MEL).
