Database name:<\/strong> Factiva, <\/em>from Dow Jones.<\/p>\n Link:<\/strong> www.lib.purdue.edu\/mel<\/a>, in the pull down Quick Access to Business Databases<\/em> alpha list right below the Libraries\u2019 search box.<\/p>\n Description\/focus:<\/strong> Factiva<\/em> offers worldwide news, company, and market information.<\/p>\n Start with this hint:<\/strong> The MEL link for Factiva<\/em> lands on the Search Builder<\/strong> page, which is an advanced search.\u00a0 First, though, switch to the Simple Search<\/strong> and enter \u201cearth day\u201d for a list of news articles.\u00a0 To see simple turn into complex, go back to Simple Search<\/strong> and enter \u201cBP Halliburton.\u201d Factiva<\/em> will ask if you are looking for BP PLC<\/em> and Halliburton Co<\/em>., show today\u2019s news about them, and include links to the company snapshot for each.\u00a0 Now switch to Search Builder<\/strong> and use the optional Company<\/strong> find field on the bottom half of the page to search for the same 2 companies. (In this mode, it is necessary to put \u201cand\u201d between the two company codes.)
