Database name: <\/strong>JobNow<\/em> from Brainfuse.<\/p>\n Link: <\/strong>Go to our home page<\/a>, then in the pull down Quick Access to Business Databases<\/em> alpha list right below the Libraries\u2019 search box, scroll down to JobNow<\/em>.\u00a0 See a demo here.<\/p>\n Description\/focus:<\/strong> With live help for resumes and interviews, JobNow<\/em> helps students as they begin to prepare for a job search.<\/p>\n Start with this hint:<\/strong> Register for JobNow<\/em> in order to keep a record of your sessions.\u00a0 The offerings of JobNow<\/em> are basic and focused on job-seeking assistance, so there is no search box.\u00a0 When you log on, you can take one of these paths: Write the R\u00e9sum\u00e9<\/strong> for r\u00e9sum\u00e9 help, Ace the Interview<\/strong> for interview preparation, or Links and Tips,<\/strong> self-assessment and job listings.\u00a0 The sections for interview and r\u00e9sum\u00e9 help include live chat assistance, clearly the strongest element in JobNow<\/em>.\u00a0 See a short demo here. There is also a section called Adult Learning Center <\/strong>which offers a writing lab, and help with subjects such as calculus and statistics, preparation for the US citizenship test, and Microsoft Office help.<\/p>\n Why you should know this database:<\/strong> This is the time of year when students will begin to prepare for job fairs, and they often ask their professors for guidance.\u00a0 This is only one of the databases provided through Purdue\u2019s Career Wiki<\/a>.\u00a0 JobNow<\/em> offers live help daily from 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm.<\/p>\n How this database can be integrated into the curriculum:<\/strong> JobNow<\/em> helps students polish a resume, but it also offers writing help.\u00a0 Students can upload a document, such as an essay, and get helpful comments.<\/p>\n Cost:<\/strong> This subscription was jointly purchased by Purdue Libraries, the Center for Career Opportunities, Krannert Graduate Career Services, and Purdue Alumni Association.<\/p>\n ——————————<\/p>\n Database of the Week comes to you from the Roland G.
