Parrish Library of Management &amp; Economics. These database snapshots will give you basic information about our most relevant and beneficial online resources.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This Week\u2019s Featured Database: <\/strong><em>SimplyMap <\/em>from Geographic Research, Inc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Link:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lib.purdue.edu\/mel\" target=\"_blank\">www.lib.purdue.edu\/mel<\/a>, in the pull down<em> Quick Access to Business Databases<\/em> alpha list right below the Libraries\u2019 search box.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Description\/focus:<\/strong> <em>SimplyMap <\/em> provides demographic, business, and marketing data.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Start with this hint: <\/strong>The interface for <em>SimplyMap<\/em> has been simplified but the data you can access and compare is still prodigious.\u00a0 The <strong>Variables<\/strong> you can select include:<\/p>\n<p><em>Census Data<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Consumer Expenditure<\/em> (for example, <em>Housing <\/em>or <em>Child<\/em> <em>care<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p><em>Business Counts<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Market Segments<\/em> (for example, <em>In the Armed Forces<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p><em>Quality of Life<\/em> (showing crime, earthquakes, snowfall)<\/p>\n<p><em>Consumer<\/em> <em>Price Index<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Retail Sales<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Sales Potential<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>MRI Consumer Data<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Life Stages<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Simmons Data<\/em> (formerly <em>Choices 3<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>The information can be represented on a map but can also be presented in a spreadsheet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why you should know this database:<\/strong> <em>SimplyMap<\/em> is the tool to use to compare variables, rank locations, create a demographic analysis, or compare data for a location.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How this database can be integrated into the curriculum:<\/strong> <em>SimplyMap<\/em> online workspaces can be shared.\u00a0 This database can be used for any class that requires a business plan or forecasting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost:<\/strong> $2 simultaneous users, paid annually by the Libraries.
