This Week\u2019s Featured Database: <\/strong>OECDiLibrary, <\/em>from the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development.<\/p>\n Link:<\/strong> www.lib.purdue.edu\/mel<\/a>, in the pull down Quick Access to Business Databases<\/em> alpha list right below the Libraries\u2019 search box.<\/p>\n Description\/focus:<\/strong> OECDiLibrary <\/em>offers statistics, full text books, and reports from the OECD, whose focus is the world economy.<\/p>\n Start with this hint: <\/strong>The OECDiLibrary<\/em> opening page has a menu bar to browse books, papers, or statistics, and a link to the OECD Factbook<\/em>. The basic search finds your term in several fields, and then you can limit the results to books, papers or statistics. If your subject is a phrase, be sure to use quotation marks: water policies<\/em> will give different results from \u201cwater policies.\u201d<\/em> See a sample search in our OECD tutorial<\/a>.\u00a0 The default for the Advanced Search<\/strong> is to look for your term in all fields, so limit to Title<\/strong> and<\/strong> Abstract<\/strong> to get a manageable number of hits.<\/p>\n Why you should know this database:<\/strong> The statistical databases in OECD iLibrary<\/em> cover national accounts, economic indicators, trade, employment, migration, education, energy, health, development and innovation in both member and non-member countries. The OECD monitors the impact of the current world financial crisis on developing countries.<\/p>\n How this database can be integrated into the curriculum:<\/strong> Students searching for an international research topic can browse the OECD iLibrary<\/em> Theme<\/strong> or Country<\/strong> menus for issues in Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia-Pacific.\u00a0 The organization covers economic and social trends, from the labor force in persistently poor areas to the innovation and growth of the Internet economy.<\/p>\n Cost:<\/strong> Paid by the Libraries annually.<\/p>\n ——————————<\/p>\n Database of the Week comes to you from the Roland G.
