These database snapshots will give you basic information about our most relevant and beneficial online resources.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This Week\u2019s Featured Database: <\/strong>\u00a0<em>National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS),<\/em> from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Link: <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lib.purdue.edu\/mel\" target=\"_blank\">www.lib.purdue.edu\/mel<\/a>, in the pull down<em> Quick Access to Business Databases<\/em> alpha list right below the Libraries\u2019 search box.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Description\/focus:<\/strong> US ag statistics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Start with this hint:<\/strong>. <em>NASS<\/em> provides downloadable reports and spreadsheets based on the results of hundreds of surveys, including the most important Census of Agriculture which will again be taken in 2012.\u00a0 The reports cover production, supplies, prices, labor, farm finances, chemical usage, and demographics.\u00a0 <em>NASS<\/em> topics include commodities, animals, floriculture, pest management, and research. Click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lib.purdue.edu\/mel\/dbow_tutorials\/nass_dbow\/index.htm\">here<\/a> to see the basics of searching\u00a0<em>NASS<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why you should know this database:<\/strong>\u00a0 <em>NASS<\/em> is a portal to information that has been collected by the federal government for the past two centuries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How this database can be integrated into the curriculum:<\/strong>\u00a0 Through <em>NASS<\/em>, students can find historical information to see US agricultural statistics change over time. Students can also contact experts at <em>NASS<\/em> to get help finding information not readily available online.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost:<\/strong><em> <\/em>There is no cost to access <em>NASS<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>Database of the Week comes to you from the Roland G.
