Database name:<\/strong>\u00a0 lynda.com<\/em><\/a>, from Lynda.com.<\/p>\n Link:<\/strong> www.lib.purdue.edu\/libraries\/mgmt<\/a>, under Collections<\/strong>, click on the List of Business Databases.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Description\/focus:<\/strong>\u00a0lynda.com<\/em> provides online video lessons on how to use specific software products.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Start with this hint:<\/strong> lynda.com <\/em>lets you select lessons with a keyword search or from dropdown menus.\u00a0 The menus cover Subject<\/strong> such as Illustration, Software<\/strong> (such as Quicken<\/em>), and Vendor<\/strong>, such as Apple or Sony.\u00a0 There are also lessons available for , Open Source software such as Drupal.\u00a0 The lessons menu shows the level of difficulty.\u00a0 As an example, the Intermediate Skill lessons for Microsoft Excel have 24 videos ranging from 1 hour on data validation to 4 hours on statistical analysis techniques.\u00a0 lynda.com<\/em> teaches Microsoft Office, Adobe,\u00a0 SQL, AutoCAD, Dreamweaver and other common tools, but also includes software such as character animation, and many others.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Why you should know this tool:<\/strong>\u00a0 The lessons at lynda.com <\/em>are short, focused, and\u00a0 have the right amount of information without being overwhelming. It offers over 7 hours of video lessons on Blackboard.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n How this will help students:<\/strong>\u00a0 Students can go at their own pace to learn the basics, and they can learn techniques that will make their presentations more professional and more logically organized.\u00a0 Types of software include web design, content management systems, digital video, graphics, and more.
