{"id":2633,"date":"2013-02-14T16:20:05","date_gmt":"2013-02-14T20:20:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.lib.purdue.edu\/news\/?p=2633"},"modified":"2013-02-14T16:20:05","modified_gmt":"2013-02-14T20:20:05","slug":"purdue-and-jawaharlal-nehru-university-collaborate-on-data-curation-workshop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.lib.purdue.edu\/news\/2013\/02\/14\/purdue-and-jawaharlal-nehru-university-collaborate-on-data-curation-workshop\/","title":{"rendered":"Purdue and Jawaharlal Nehru University collaborate on Data Curation Workshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Data Curation in the University: Libraries, Research, and Learning<\/p>\n<p>Workshop date: March 25, 2013<\/p>\n<p>Venue: JNU Convention Centre, New Delhi, India<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/databib.org\/workshop\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/databib.org\/workshop<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This one-day workshop will be held at Jawaharlal Nehru University on March 25, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Cyberinfrastructure and &#8220;Big Data&#8221; represent a paradigm shift in science that is transforming the research process to focus on the computation, analysis, curation, and reuse of digital data on a massive scale.\u00a0 What are the implications for universities in terms of their libraries, research, and teaching?<\/p>\n<p>This workshop brings together a select group of senior librarians, research and data center managers, cyberinfrastructure researchers, and educators to explore these issues and begin to integrate data curation into their practice and services.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will be provided with:<\/p>\n<p>* an introduction to data curation in the context of institutional repositories with perspectives from librarians from India and the United States;<\/p>\n<p>* the opportunity to collaborate on Databib and help represent research data from India in a global catalog of data repositories;<\/p>\n<p>* a venue to discuss and share questions about new roles and emerging practices relating to research data;<\/p>\n<p>* an understanding of the current state of the art in data-enabled cyberinfrastructure and teaching in the United States and India.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to support from Jawaharlal Nehru University and the Office of Engagement at Purdue University, there is no charge to participate for attendees.
