{"id":267,"date":"2009-09-25T08:45:02","date_gmt":"2009-09-25T12:45:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.lib.purdue.edu\/news\/?p=267"},"modified":"2010-04-05T10:47:21","modified_gmt":"2010-04-05T14:47:21","slug":"mels-database-of-the-week-for-925","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.lib.purdue.edu\/news\/2009\/09\/25\/mels-database-of-the-week-for-925\/","title":{"rendered":"MEL&#8217;s Database of the Week for 9\/25"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to Database of the Week &#8212; a feature from the Management &amp; Economics Library (MEL).\u00a0 These weekly database snapshots will give you basic information about our most relevant and beneficial online resources.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Database name: <\/strong> <em>ABI\/INFORM Global<\/em>, from Proquest.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Link:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lib.purdue.edu\/mel\" target=\"_blank\">www.lib.purdue.edu\/mel<\/a>, in the pull down<em> Quick Access to Business Databases<\/em> alpha list right below our banner.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Description\/focus:<\/strong> <em>ABI\/INFORM Global<\/em> is one of the most comprehensive business databases, covering over 3000 publications.\u00a0 Besides business and management magazines and journals, it includes non-periodical content such as EIU ViewsWire, Business Dissertations, Author Profiles, and Business Cases.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Start with this hint:<\/strong> Once you have entered a search term and looked at your <em>ABI\/INFORM Global<\/em> list of results, you may want to see the search executed in another database.\u00a0 Click on <strong>Databases selected<\/strong> under the orange and green tabs across the top, select one or more databases, click <strong>Continue<\/strong>, click <strong>Search<\/strong>.\u00a0 This is especially useful if you have a complex search statement.\u00a0 If full text is not an option, the icon <strong>Find It @ Purdue Libraries<\/strong> that appears in the citations will lead you to the full text in another database.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why you should know this database:<\/strong> Almost all of our Subject Guides include <em>ABI\/INFORM Global<\/em> as a recommended database for articles.\u00a0 Once you are satisfied with your search statement, one click turns it into an RSS feed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How this database can be integrated into the curriculum:<\/strong> <em>ABI\/INFORM Global<\/em> gives researchers at all levels access to business and financial information, with the capability to narrow the search to scholarly journals, trade publications, or dissertations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>Database of the Week comes to you from the Management &amp; Economics Library (MEL).
