Parrish Library of Management & Economics.\u00a0 These weekly snapshots will give you basic information about our most relevant and beneficial online resources. <\/span><\/p>\n This Week\u2019s Featured Database:<\/span><\/b> Checkpoint, <\/i>formerly RIA Checkpoint, from Thomson Reuters.<\/span><\/p>\n Link:<\/span><\/b>www.lib.purdue.edu\/libraries\/mgmt<\/span><\/a><\/span>, under Collections<\/b>, click on the List of Business Databases. <\/span><\/p>\n Description\/focus: <\/span><\/b>Checkpoint <\/span><\/i>is the database for tax research. <\/span><\/p>\n Start with this hint: <\/span><\/b>The link from Parrish to Checkpoint<\/i> lands at the basic search page where tax and accounting professionals can search rulings, IRS publications, SEC filings, or accounting standards and regulations.\u00a0 These can be searched by keyword, code, case, or by clicking on the Thesaurus\/Query Tool to bring up specific search templates.\u00a0 Non-professionals will find documents and forms by clicking the link to Form\/Line Finder under Go To, and publications of interest in the News tab. <\/span>See <\/span>here <\/span><\/a><\/span>for a short video tutorial on the basics of searching <\/span>Checkpoint.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n Why you should know this database:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Tax and accounting professionals can use\u00a0\u00a0 Checkpoint to research supporting cases.\u00a0 The Tools tab has calculators for working out payments for autos, mortgages, credit cards, and other business and personal financial concerns.<\/span><\/p>\n How this database can be integrated into the curriculum:<\/span><\/b> Students studying tax and accounting can find cases to support answers to tax questions and can use the handy Citator button to find related cases.
