Welcome to Database of the Week — a feature from the Management & Economics Library (MEL).\u00a0 These weekly database snapshots will give you basic information about our most relevant and beneficial online resources.<\/p>\n
This Week’s Featured Database: <\/strong> eBooks<\/p>\n Link:<\/strong> www.lib.purdue.edu\/mel<\/a>, in the pull down Quick Access to Business Databases<\/em> alpha list right below our banner.<\/p>\n Description\/focus:<\/strong> Selecting eBooks takes you to a page with links to several collections including the business collections of NetLibrary<\/em>, Safari<\/em>, and Springer.<\/em><\/p>\n Start with this hint:<\/strong> When you see a book of interest in NetLibrary<\/em> you can look at the chapter titles by clicking Show Details<\/strong>.\u00a0 In Safari<\/em> and Springer<\/em> you can also choose to search the chapter titles as well as book titles.\u00a0 For example, a title search for “project management” yields 5 books in NetLibrary<\/em>, but 7 books and 44 chapters in Safari<\/em>.\u00a0 In Springer<\/em>, select “Business and Economics,” click more options<\/strong> on the right,\u00a0 enter “project management” in the title field, and scroll down the resulting list to see Content Type<\/strong> showing 9 books and 190 book chapters.<\/p>\n Why you should know this database:<\/strong> NetLibrary<\/em>, Safari<\/em>, and Springer<\/em> have the full text of books in all fields of business, and include reference books as well.\u00a0 If you develop an appreciation for e-books and have a suggestion for a title that is not available through these databases, please let us know.<\/p>\n How this database can be integrated into the curriculum:<\/strong> Required reading does not have to be a hardcopy textbook or a chapter on our reserve shelf.\u00a0 Students can be referred instead to books or chapters in NetLibrary<\/em>, Safari<\/em>, or Springer<\/em>.<\/p>\n Cost:<\/strong> varies by database; if you would like to know what the library pays for any of these, send an email to mdugan@purdue.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n ——————————<\/p>\n Database of the Week comes to you from the Management & Economics Library (MEL).
