Welcome to the fall semester at Purdue, and welcome to Database of the Week.\u00a0 This feature from the Roland G. Parrish Library of Management & Economics is intended to give you a brief introduction to a database that you may not know.\u00a0 These weekly snapshots will have basic information about our most relevant online resources, and hopefully tempt you to explore for your own specific purpose. Feedback is always welcome.<\/span><\/p>\n

Database name: <\/span><\/b>\u00a0ABI\/INFORM Global<\/i>, from ProQuest.<\/span><\/p>\n

Find it:<\/span><\/b>www.lib.purdue.edu\/libraries\/mgmt<\/span><\/a>, under the left-hand column Collections<\/b>, click on List of Business Databases. <\/span><\/p>\n

Description\/focus:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0 ABI\/INFORM Global<\/i> is one of the most comprehensive business databases, delivering the content of over 3000 scholarly journals, trade journals, and non-periodicals such as EIU ViewsWire, Business Dissertations, and Business Cases.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Try this:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0 The ProQuest interface begins at the\u00a0 Basic Search<\/b> which treats your search terms as keywords. You can switch to Advanced Search<\/b> and narrow your results by limiting to title. subject, or other field. You can also search in combined ProQuest databases by opening the \u201cSearching:\u201d list above the ProQuest logo.\u00a0 <\/b>If your search results include titles displaying the icon Find It @ Purdue Libraries<\/b>, click on that icon to get to the full text in another database. <\/span>See <\/span>here <\/span><\/a>for a short video tutorial on the basics of searching ABI\/Inform Global.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why faculty should know this database:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0 Almost all Parrish Library Subject Guides and classroom instruction sessions include ABI\/INFORM Global<\/i> as a recommended database for articles.\u00a0 Once you are satisfied with your search statement, one click turns it into an RSS feed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why students should know this database:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0 ABI\/INFORM Global<\/i> gives researchers at all levels easy access to business and financial information, with the capability to narrow the search to scholarly journals, trade publications, or dissertations. Search results can be saved by creating personal folders within the database.<\/span><\/p>\n
