Welcome to Database of the Week.\u00a0 This feature from the Roland G. Parrish Library of Management & Economics is intended to give you a brief introduction to a database that you may not know.\u00a0 These weekly snapshots will have only basic information about our most relevant and beneficial online resources, and hopefully tempt you to explore.\u00a0 Feedback is always welcome.\u00a0 If you have a suggestion for a database or research topic that should be covered, please let us know.<\/span><\/p>\n This Week\u2019s Database:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0 <\/span>Mediamark Reporter<\/span><\/i><\/a>, from GFK Mediamark Research & Intelligence. <\/span><\/p>\n Find it:<\/span><\/b>www.lib.purdue.edu\/parrish<\/span><\/a>, under the column named Collections<\/b>, click on List of Business Databases. <\/span><\/p>\n Description\/focus:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Mediamark Reporter<\/i> provides demographic, lifestyle, product usage, and media data.<\/span><\/p>\n Try this:<\/span><\/b> Mediamark Reporter <\/i>works in Internet Explorer. If it\u2019s your first time, you\u2019ll have to create an account using your Purdue email and a password of your choosing.\u00a0 After you login and get to the database called MRI+<\/i>, you can explore the choices, but click on <\/span>Mediamark Reporter<\/span><\/b> in the banner so see the tables and statistics. If your goal is to find out which population groups are the best potential market for a product or service, the column of <\/span>Index<\/span><\/b> numbers tells which groups are likely targets.\u00a0 Click <\/span>here<\/span><\/a> to see the basics of selecting options in Mediamark Reporter.<\/i>\u00a0 For personalized assistance with navigating this database, send a request to <\/span>parrlib@purdue.edu<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n Why faculty should know this database:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0 Mediamark Reporter includes historic demographic data back to 2005 so comparisons can be made. <\/span><\/p>\n Why students should know this database:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0 A marketing plan should include data on user preferences.\u00a0 This kind of information is also included in SimplyMap<\/i> but Mediamark Reporter<\/i> displays the data in a spreadsheet which might be more straightforward than a geographic display for some students.
