Parrish Library of Management & Economics is intended to give you a brief introduction to a database that you may not know.\u00a0 These weekly snapshots will have only basic information about our most relevant and beneficial online resources, and hopefully tempt you to explore.\u00a0 Feedback is always welcome.\u00a0 If you have a suggestion for a database or research topic that should be covered, please let us know.<\/span><\/p>\n

This Week\u2019s Featured Database: <\/span><\/b>WARC, <\/i>from World Advertising Research Center Ltd.<\/span><\/p>\n

Find it:<\/span><\/b> www.lib.purdue.edu\/parrish<\/a>, Under the column with the header Collections<\/b>, click on List of Business Databases. <\/span><\/p>\n

Description\/focus:<\/span><\/b> WARC <\/i>is a marketing and advertising information service used by media and market research agencies.<\/span><\/p>\n

Try this: <\/span><\/b>WARC has the familiar box to do a key word search, but you can also use the pulldown menus to search by type of content: case studies, trends, news, data, forecasts.\u00a0 If you click on one of the fields along the top, you\u2019ll see the options for further breakdown. The Topics list includes consumers, marketing, industries,\u00a0 and profiles of global brand owners.\u00a0 For example, the industry Topic Page for Travel & Tourism shows case studies, trends, and company profiles.\u00a0 See here <\/a>for a short demonstration of a basic WARC search. <\/span><\/p>\n

Why you should know this database:<\/span><\/b> Content in WARC includes news stories, case studies, research papers, conference papers, best practice guides, speeches, data, and WARC\u2019s own reports.\u00a0 The subjects covered include communications, media research, market research, trends, and more.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why students should know this database:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0 Searching in <\/b>WARC<\/i> is easy to do so even students who are unfamiliar with database searching will be able to find marketing or consumer information.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n
