{"id":3128,"date":"2013-10-17T10:47:19","date_gmt":"2013-10-17T14:47:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.lib.purdue.edu\/news\/?p=3128"},"modified":"2013-10-17T10:47:25","modified_gmt":"2013-10-17T14:47:25","slug":"purdue-university-libraries-launches-new-open-access-resource-website","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.lib.purdue.edu\/news\/2013\/10\/17\/purdue-university-libraries-launches-new-open-access-resource-website\/","title":{"rendered":"Purdue University Libraries Launches New, Open Access Resource Website"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--[if !mso]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;line-height: 150%\">WEST LAFAYETTE, IN \u2014 In association with Open Access Week &#8211; Oct. 21 to 27, 2013, Purdue University Libraries has launched a new, Open Access website with key resources, timely information and University expertise on the issues and topics related to Open Access.\u00a0 The website is located at: <b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">lib.purdue.edu\/openaccess<\/span><\/b> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;line-height: 150%\">Open Access (OA) describes the online, free-of-charge, public access to the scholarly journal literature (in particular) that has until very recently been only available to the reader through subscriptions or affiliation with an institution that pays subscription fees. By changing the way in which publication is funded, Open Access has the potential to maximize research investments, increase the exposure and use of published research, facilitate the ability to conduct research across available literature, and enhance the overall advancement of scholarship. Research funding agencies, academic institutions, researchers and scientists, teachers, students, and members of the general public are supporting a move towards Open Access in increasing numbers every year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;line-height: 150%\">The Open Access at Purdue website provides news and resources about the Open Access movement.
