Parrish Library of Management &amp; Economics is intended to give you a brief introduction to a database that you may not know, with only basic information to get you started.\u00a0 Hopefully, you will be tempted to explore this or other databases.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This Week\u2019s Featured Database:\u00a0 <\/strong><em>SimplyMap <\/em>from Geographic Research, Inc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Find it:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lib.purdue.edu\/parrish\/\">www.lib.purdue.edu\/parrish<\/a>, Under the column headed Collections, click on List of Business Databases.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Description\/focus:<\/strong> <em>SimplyMap <\/em>provides demographic, business, and marketing data.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Start with this hint:\u00a0 <\/strong>Our subscription to\u00a0<em>SimplyMap<\/em> has a limited number of users so try again later if you cannot connect. \u00a0<em>SimplyMap<\/em> works best with the creation of a personal workspace, but you can login as a guest to just try it.\u00a0 Once you are in <em>SimplyMap<\/em>, select a geographical location on the left and click Use This Location. Next click on the Variables tab where you can browse characteristics such as population by age, race, or income. Once you have selected your variables click the \u201cx\u201d to close the tab and draw the map.<\/p>\n<p>Click <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/XkJNCqVAa_E\">here<\/a> to see the basics of searching\u00a0<em>SimplyMap<\/em> or try our Guide on the Side with <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.lib.purdue.edu\/guides\/tutorial\/getting-started-with-simplymap\">this link<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why you should know this database:<\/strong> <em>SimplyMap<\/em> is the tool to use to compare variables, rank locations, create a demographic analysis, or compare data for a location.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How this will help students:<\/strong> <em>SimplyMap<\/em> online workspaces can be shared.\u00a0 This database can be used for any class that requires a business plan or forecasting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost:<\/strong> Paid annually by the Libraries, with a limited number of seats.
