{"id":3965,"date":"2015-06-01T09:55:21","date_gmt":"2015-06-01T13:55:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.lib.purdue.edu\/news\/?p=3965"},"modified":"2015-06-01T14:18:58","modified_gmt":"2015-06-01T18:18:58","slug":"purdue-university-libraries-position-announcement-engineering-information-specialist-assistant-or-associate-professor-two-positions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.lib.purdue.edu\/news\/2015\/06\/01\/purdue-university-libraries-position-announcement-engineering-information-specialist-assistant-or-associate-professor-two-positions\/","title":{"rendered":"Purdue University Libraries Position Announcements: Engineering Information Specialist (Assistant or Associate Professor) &#8211; Two Positions Available"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>E<\/strong><strong>ngineering Information Specialist\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Assistant or Associate Professor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>(Two Positions)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Purdue University Libraries seeks an energetic, outgoing, and innovative individual who will join a collaborative, dynamic team carrying out a robust program of integrated information literacy, data services, scholarly communication, and collaborative research, and who, as a Libraries faculty member, contributes to research and scholarship in these areas.<\/p>\n<p>The Engineering Information (EI) Specialist acts as a liaison with two to four Schools in the College of Engineering; participates in interdisciplinary, collaborative research projects, including sponsored research, within the Libraries and the College of Engineering; makes connections between engineering faculty and units of the Libraries to enable greater research productivity, sustainable publication and dissemination of scholarship and data; participates in the development of information literacy outcomes, through an informed learning approach, in support of the University\u2019s new undergraduate core curriculum that requires information literacy outcomes for all undergraduates; and contributes to Libraries-wide initiatives and participates in faculty governance of the Libraries.\u00a0 As a member of the Libraries faculty, the EI Specialist must articulate a research agenda that explores questions within the EI Specialist\u2019s area of specialization, resulting in a scholarly publication record as required for promotion and tenure at Purdue University.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements: <\/strong>Master\u2019s degree from an ALA-accredited library school or a PhD in a relevant discipline; evidence of a proactive, user-centered vision for information access; strong interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively; \u00a0familiarity with current trends in instructional best practices and data curation services.\u00a0 Ability to adjust to and accommodate changing demands within Libraries, the University and the field.\u00a0 Commitment to engage in research and scholarship, and ability to achieve promotion and tenure.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Desired:<\/strong> Experience developing and implementing active learning techniques in a curricular setting.\u00a0 Knowledge of best practices in online learning pedagogies.\u00a0 Experience using online learning tools and content management and production systems.\u00a0 For applicants with MLS degrees, a degree in science or engineering, or experience in an engineering library is desired.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Salary and benefits: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Salary commensurate with experience in the context of Purdue University\u2019s salary structure. Faculty tenure-track position with a twelve-month appointment. Rank of assistant or associate professor depending on qualifications.\u00a0 Start-up funds in support of research are provided for computer\/software\/equipment, for travel\/professional development, and for a half time graduate assistant for two years.
