Each of these weekly snapshots will give you a very brief introduction to the basic features of one of our specialized subscription databases. This week\u2019s database is AgEcon Search, which is is co-sponsored by the Department of Applied Economics and the University Libraries at University of Minnesota and the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Link:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/guides.lib.purdue.edu\/businessdatabasest\">http:\/\/guides.lib.purdue.edu\/businessdatabases<\/a> is the alphabetical list of the databases specially selected for those in a business program of study. Access the databases off-campus with your Purdue login and password.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Focus:<\/strong>\u00a0<em>AgEcon Search<\/em> is an open access database covering agricultural and applied economics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Search: <\/strong>You can begin a search on the <em>AgEcon Search<\/em> home page. Type your subject of interest in the search box, <em>Purdue<\/em> for example, and the results are displayed.\u00a0 On the left of each page are links to browse the contents by institution\/journal, author, date, or subject category. Results include working papers, conference papers and posters, and journal articles. <em>AgEcon Search<\/em> covers the fields of agricultural, consumer, energy, environmental and resource economics.<\/p>\n<p>Click <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/SpRWLth4Yi4\">here<\/a> to see the basics of searching\u00a0<em>AgEcon Search<\/em> or try our Guide on the Side with <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.lib.purdue.edu\/guides\/tutorial\/getting-started-with-agecon-search\">this link<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why you should know this database:<\/strong> By completing a simple registration process you can submit your own papers and articles to be added to<em> AgEcon Search.<\/em> This is similar to the process of adding your papers to Purdue\u2019s institutional repository, <a href=\"http:\/\/docs.lib.purdue.edu\/\">e-Pubs<\/a>. As an open access database, <em>AgEcon Search<\/em> does not require a Purdue login and password, so the research you have done can be shared with anyone who has an Internet connection.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How this will help students:<\/strong> With a simple search students can get results that are international in scope from academic institutions, government agencies, and professional organizations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost:<\/strong> There is no cost for access to <em>AgEcon Search<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Database of the Week comes to you from the Roland G.
