{"id":6164,"date":"2017-12-12T13:53:58","date_gmt":"2017-12-12T17:53:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.lib.purdue.edu\/news\/?p=6164"},"modified":"2017-12-12T13:53:58","modified_gmt":"2017-12-12T17:53:58","slug":"video-contest-fall17","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.lib.purdue.edu\/news\/2017\/12\/12\/video-contest-fall17\/","title":{"rendered":"Winners Named in Purdue Libraries&#8217; Why I Love WALC Video Contest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Several Purdue University students showed the many reasons why they love Purdue Libraries in the Purdue University Libraries\u2019 fifth \u201cWhy I Love Purdue Libraries\u201d video contest. This fall, we added a twist to the contest theme and asked students to produce video entries that show why they love the newly opened Purdue Libraries&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lib.purdue.edu\/walc\/\">Wilmeth Active Learning Center<\/a> (WALC), home of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lib.purdue.edu\/libraries\/engsci\">Library of Engineering and Science<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The contest&#8211;which was announced in Fall 2017 and is supported by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purduefed.com\/\">Purdue Federal Credit Union<\/a>&#8211;was open to Purdue students and received 24 entries for the Fall 2017 competition. All entries were judged by members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lib.purdue.edu\/about\/student-advisory-councils\">Undergraduate Student Libraries Advisory Council<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Four videos \u2013 first, second, and two videos for a third-place tie \u2013 were selected as winners of the first $1,000 prize, second $750 prize, and third $500 prize. Five students produced the videos. They include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>First Place<\/strong> \u2013<strong> Cole Griffin<\/strong>, senior, industrial engineering major, and <strong>Anna Magner, <\/strong>junior, selling and sales management major: each will receive half of the $1,000;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Second Place<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Jake Heidecker, <\/strong>sophomore, finance and supply chain management double major: $750; and<\/li>\n<li><strong>Third Place Tie<\/strong> \u2013<strong> Jason Kelly, <\/strong>freshman, engineering major, and <strong>Matt Schnelker, <\/strong>senior, computer information technology major; each will receive $500.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6169\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6169\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLfiLH31ZZsO136sTrEir-exeiBi1X30wI\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6169\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.lib.purdue.edu\/news\/files\/2017\/12\/fall-2017-video-contest-winners-with-border.jpg?resize=600%2C438&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"The winners of the Fall 2017 Why I Love Purdue Libraries\u2019 WALC Video Contest joined Dean of Libraries Jim Mullins and Purdue Federal Credit Union (PFCU) Vice President Jeff Love for a special presentation of their awards in the Wilmeth Active Learning Center, Library of Engineering and Science.
