Patton<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>According to Hannah, most of the faculty will work closely with him to strategize and implement key changes in an effort to expand digital scholarship into new arenas. In addition to the several faculty members who were awarded seed grants, Hannah was able to fund five graduate students working in some area of digital scholarship to attend conferences and present original work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was delighted by the range and scope of the proposals,\u201d Hannah said. \u201cI am excited about the future of Digital Humanities at Purdue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Graduate students and faculty members awarded grant funds are listed below.<\/p>\n<h1>Graduate Student Grants<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sweta Baniya<\/strong> (English) presented \u201c#RageAgainstRape: Nepali Women&#8217;s Performance of Local Digital Actions Against the National Silence on Rape\u201d at Conference on College Composition and Communication in Pittsburgh, PA.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jared Wright<\/strong> (sociology) presented &#8220;&#8216;The Future of the Internet Hangs in the Balance,&#8217;\u201d The Perception and Framing of Political Opportunity and Threat among Activists in Digital Space&#8221; at Moral Machines?: The Ethics and Politics of the Digital World in Helsinki, Finland.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reyes Espinoza<\/strong> (philosophy) presented \u201cArt, Technology, and Trans-Death Options\u201d at Taboo-Transgression-Transcendence in Art and Science 2018 in Mexico City, Mexico.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sharareh Vahed<\/strong> (second-language studies) presented \u201cMultilingual Learners\u2019 Developing Identities as Writers through the Reflection, Response, and Self-Assessment\u201d at Conference on College Composition and Communication in Pittsburgh, PA.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sabiha Sadeque<\/strong> presented \u201cAugmented reality tools to learn a foreign language\u201d at the \u201cTech + Research\u201d workshop at University of Maryland.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Faculty Grants<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cla.purdue.edu\/directory\/profiles\/manjana-milkoreit.html\"><strong>Manjana Milkoreit<\/strong><\/a> (political science) to redesign Political Science 32700: \u201cGlobal Green Politics\u201d to incorporate virtual reality and gaming, which suggests provocative possibilities for adding new methodologies.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cla.purdue.edu\/directory\/profiles\/angelica-duran.html\"><strong>Angelica Duran<\/strong><\/a> (English) to develop SCLA 101: \u201cTransformative Texts, Critical Thinking &amp; Communication I: Antiquity to Modernity\u201d to expand mapping projects related to archival materials.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cla.purdue.edu\/directory\/profiles\/kim-gallon.html\"><strong>Kim Gallon<\/strong><\/a> (history) to redesign History 495: \u201cDigital History: Exploring the Digital History of Slavery\u201d to incorporate an articulate storyline so students can design interactive modules.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cla.purdue.edu\/directory\/profiles\/eric-waltenburg.html\"><strong>Eric Waltenburg<\/strong><\/a> (political science) to redesign Political Science 300: \u201cIntroduction to Political Analysis\u201d to incorporate textual and sentiment analysis.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cla.purdue.edu\/directory\/profiles\/elizabeth-mercier.html\"><strong>Elizabeth Mercier<\/strong><\/a> (classics) to redesign Latin 315: \u201cPaleography\u201d to incorporate the Purdue Paleography Project and conduct significant work with digitizing manuscripts.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/honors.purdue.edu\/about-us\/faculty\/anwer.php\"><strong>Megha Anwer<\/strong><\/a> (Honors College) to redesign Honors 19903: \u201cInterdisciplinary Writing\u201d to incorporate digital mapping and textual analysis.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/honors.purdue.edu\/about-us\/faculty\/jengelley.php\"><strong>Dwaine Jengelly<\/strong><\/a> (Honors College) to redesign Honors 29900: ISIS to incorporate textual analysis.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cla.purdue.edu\/directory\/profiles\/dino-franco-felluga.html\"><strong>Dino Felluga<\/strong><\/a> (English) to redesign English 202: \u201cEngaging English with digital methods derived from innovative work on COVE (Central Online Victorian Educator).<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cla.purdue.edu\/directory\/profiles\/song-no.html\"><strong>Song No<\/strong><\/a> (Spanish) to redesign Spanish 24100: \u201cIntroduction to Hispanic Literature\u201d to incorporate textual analysis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more information, contact Hannah at hannah8@purdue.edu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Purdue University students who take social science or humanities courses will learn more from digital scholarship concepts and ideas incorporated into these courses in the coming months and years.
